        The Fully Mummified Cat

I used to read (and post in) a usenet group called alt.ozdebate and a lady there called Lea found a fully mummified cat under the house she was renovating. She posted these messages and pictures to that group.

Found under my kitchen today. Unsure as to age of mummy - am calling the vet tomorrow to see if he is interested in taking a look ( perfect specimen ). A skeleton with a thin veil of chamois covering - even the ears are intact.

From position, it looks as though cat ( big, Tom-like in stature ) might have crawled under house to die of old age, or bated ??? ... can't see any injuries, although jaw seems set to an open 'biting' position ???

Anyway, might take a pic tomorrow - obviously the builders left it out for us out of interest ( or to freak me out :). Very well-preserved, wonder why mice/rats etc did not find it ??

Closer inspection tonight - the eye is fully preserved !! Looks like a piece of Amber !!!

Lea eventually asked the builders to take the cat away and wasn't able to get any details from the Vet about when the cat might have died or how.

Just thought it was a very interesting little story!
